Dr Toni Van der Merwe

Dr Toni Van der Merwe obtained her MBChB from the University of Cape Town in 2005, where she qualified with first-class honours.

She completed her internship in 2006 at Somerset Hospital and her community service in 2007 at Victoria Hospital, where she was a medical officer in the accident and emergency department for three years. During her time there, she took courses in advanced paediatric and adult life support. She received the 2003 John Fleming Brock Prize for family medicine and the 2004 medal from the SA Society of Anaesthesiologists through her studies. She is also a member of The Aesthetic and Anti-Ageing Medicine Society of South Africa.

A mom of three, Dr Toni has always been very interested in the aesthetic side of medicine and enjoys working with people who care for themselves or want to better themselves in some way. Dr Toni loves to make people feel fresh and confident.

Dr Toni started working at Skin Renewal in July 2011 and learned about the intricacies of aesthetic medicine from Dr Maureen Allem and the extensive in-house training program. Keen to keep abreast of medical advancements, Dr Toni regularly attends non-surgical, anti-ageing congresses and workshops, undergoes continuous in-house training, and attends monthly doctor meetings at Skin Renewal.

A Durban girl by birth, Dr Toni loves the sea. When not at work, she may be found on the beach or in the surf on her board. She loves to surf as a family or spends time riding her E-bike with her husband.

She consults from the Claremont and Constantia branches in the Western Cape.
